After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Journalism and Communication Studies, she received her doctorate from the University of Maryland in Clinical Audiology. As an extern, she trained at The Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center and completed her doctoral research on tinnitus treatment services.
For twelve years, she worked in various medical settings seeing medically complex cases as well as pediatric cases. She was able to maintain a wide range of clinical and rehabilitative audiology skills throughout a decade-long career at large medical centers, including electrophysiological, tinnitus, and vestibular testing and treatments.
She resides happily under the Florida sun in Jacksonville with her husband and three children.
